ClippyML - Copy/Paste browser
Submitted by Jonathan Wagener on Fri, 12/19/2008 - 12:06Today whilst browsing I stumbled accross Aral Balkan's (www.aralbalkan.com) website. That was interesting as the content is very useful, but I also found this really wonderful Adober AIR tool called ClippyML. What is ClippyML? It is a little copy/paste browser that allows you to paste HTML snippets into it and it will then render the snippet as a page. I think this is really cool because sometimes you just want to check a small snippet of html and you do not want to go through the process of pasting it into an editor and then saving it and then opening it in a browser.
Google Chrome Three Months Out
Submitted by Jonathan Wagener on Thu, 11/27/2008 - 00:32Shortly after Google’s new Webkit-based browser, called Chrome, hit the streets, we took a look at how many people were using it. Our first look at the early stats found that an impressive 4-5% of users were using Chrome a couple of days after launch. Perhaps not surprisingly. given that Chrome was aimed initially at a more technical, early adopter crowd, it was Firefox that took a hit at the start rather than Internet Explorer, even though most pundits agree that Google is taking aim at Microsoft with their browser initiative, not Mozilla.
Study shows how spammers cash in
Submitted by Jonathan Wagener on Fri, 11/14/2008 - 22:21Spammers are turning a profit despite only getting one response for every 12.5m e-mails they send, finds a study.
By hijacking a working spam network, US researchers have uncovered some of the economics of being a junk mailer.
The analysis suggests that such a tiny response rate means a big spam operation can turn over millions of pounds in profit every year.
It also suggests that spammers may be susceptible to attacks that make it more costly to send junk mail.
